A Night in the Lighthouse

A Magical Experience, between the Sky and the Sea – Emotional Hotel

Today I want to tell you about a magical and adventurous experience that I had on the occasion of Valentine’s Day 2022. We decided to make this celebration even more special, giving ourselves a romantic weekend in Spain, in the splendid Galicia, and the heart of this adventure was a unforgettable stay at the Lariño Lighthouse.

This experience couldn’t be better, a combination of romance and adventure, under the starry sky and among the rushing waves of the ocean.

On this coast, one of the most fascinating routes in Galicia starts – the Camino dei Fari.

We only covered one stage, and then we decided to reach the legendary Finisterre Lighthouse, where the Camino de Santiago joins .

Like every pilgrim, we respected the tradition of burning an old piece of clothing worn during the journey… in this case socks!

There is also a flagship hotel in Finisterre. But the hotel is not located exactly in the actual lighthouse building, but in the former maritime surveillance headquarters, next door.

I wanted to sleep in a “real lighthouse”!!

So, I chose to stay about 40 km from Finisterre, where I had found, after various searches, the wonderful boutique Hotel Faro di Lariño.

Attention to every detail. Very few rooms, romantic and peaceful, silent atmosphere.

Few couples who decide to treat themselves to a special pampering and enjoy a romantic getaway, away from the rest of the world.

Where love merges with the ocean and the infinity of the sky, in the darkness illuminated only by the light of the lighthouse.

Excellent breakfast, lovely setting.

We spent two nights there, with the privilege of living the experience both in the sun and in the rain.

Galicia welcomed us with a sunny, warm and radiant day. Which allowed us to walk and explore the coast, visit the surroundings, enjoy the beach adjacent to the lighthouse with its wild beauty, and even take a nice dip in the ocean at sunset… it’s always a magical moment, that hug between the heat of the sun and the energy of the ocean.

Finally, we enjoyed our welcome aperitif in the lighthouse suite, in total privacy.

The room, simple and delightful, in a sailor style, had a bathtub in the middle, next to the bed with an ocean view.

A few kilometers from the lighthouse there is an excellent Galician-style restaurant for a typical dinner based on delicious pulpo alla galega! On the way back, a wonderful blanket of stars above our eyes wished us good night. We fell asleep lulled by the voice of the ocean in front of us.

The second night was different. The weather had changed, it was raining.

The wind howled, the rain pattered on the windows, and the ocean came alive in a symphony of rushing waves. As the storm made the lightning dance, the lighthouse transformed into a beacon of emotions. The enveloping darkness made us feel small in the midst of an ocean storm, creating an intense and romantic atmosphere.

I must say that obviously, the experience is expensive… but once in a lifetime it’s worth it… and for one night… love is priceless!

I’ll leave you some photos below to give you an idea… but I suggest you, with all my heart, click on the link below and book your stay… to experience this magic too, which you will remember forever!
